When working on most modern cars, you will find that some hoses from the factory are the spring band clamp type. These types of clamps are great because they provide an accurate tension while also allowing for quick assembly on the production line.
There are many different types of pliers that are designed to work with these types of clamps, but most are finicky and often the springs pop out sending them flying.
If you traditionally google Hose clamp pliers or even spring band clamp pliers, you will traditionally not find the below “waffle” pliers.
They are however the best at the job, because of the various waffle groves, you no longer need to carefully align the pliers, nor worry about the spring slipping in any direction.
